Sound Recordist based in North Toronto

Toronto, Canada

Credited as Kim Voxley

Kim trained in audio engineering in 2022–2023 in London, Ontario, cutting her teeth in the disciplined chaos of cables, gain staging, and the quiet art of listening properly. From there, she moved back to Ottawa and worked as an AV installer, learning the technical aspects of AV installations for high-profile clientele, networking, cable running, and basic AV construction. On the side, she found herself led naturally into film, where sound is less controlled and far more unpredictable. Kim now works as a professional sound recordist across small narrative features, documentaries, and independent productions, capturing dialogue and atmosphere in real time. She is a member of IATSE Local 634, working within union productions and building experience on set. At present, she is focused on expanding her work in narrative film and higher-level production environments, continuing to refine her approach to location sound, and deepening collaboration with directors and crew who treat sound with respect to storytelling. There is a clear interest in projects where audio is not just captured, but actively respected in service of tone, tension, and emotional texture.
